Fisheries and Aquatic Environments

ELR has considerable experience related to fish, fish habitat, and aquatic habitat quality assessment that applies to a range of projects including mining, transportation, flood control, shoreline protection, restoration, and population monitoring studies. Our professional and technical staff can effectively assess the requirements of projects that encroach on the aquatic environment, or can design and implement monitoring programs for completed or ongoing projects.
 
Our staff can offer the following fish and aquatic habitat services:

  • Design and implementation of baseline study programs for fish, fish habitat, and aquatic environment
  • Assessments of fish population abundance, habitat use, and key habitat requirements.
  • Assistance with Fisheries Act self-assessments and project reviews
  • Design, approval, and implementation of fisheries habitat offsetting projects
  • Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN) assessments by certified staff.
  • Environmental effects monitoring under the Metal Mining Effluent Regulations (MMER)
